The Child On The Farm During School Hours
Relacionado ao país: Gana

Doing a research work recently took me to a very deprived area in Ghana.I Spent two days in the village with no electricty and not surprisingly no potable water.but that is not important as they are luxuries to the marginalised people on the farm.
my concern is the children on the farm under the scorching sun trying to help their parents.........and i ask myself what would be their future.
In this era of CAPITATION GRANT in Ghana where education has become free for all children of school going age, children are still working on the farm.(the big excuse give by parents in this community is lack of finance to acquire school materials like school uniform.
Even with the introduction of the NEPAD INITIATIVE of feeding children in school and free education, parents still come with flimsy excuse of inability to afford school materials-which some cases might be genuie.

The question how do reach this people for them to understand the fact that education is the key to opening the window of hope for not only their children but themselves and their community.

Last year my organisation donated school materials to over 200 pupils of rural schools, and gosh the big smiles on the faces of both children and parents could bring tears to the eyes of anyone.

what is the solution of putting every child in school?
